I typically take a nap. It sounds like I'm being lazy, but really I'm escaping into a dark room to let my mind wander. I have to get away from distractions (social media). I also like listening to music to capture my muse.

I am most happy when people come to me and tell me they immensely enjoyed my book. Especially if they're young or not an avid reader and I changed their mind about picking up a book. I live to entertain through the written word.

Write, write, write, and worry about making it perfect later. You will be editing anyway, so just tell the story and come back later to polish it up. Tell a story that you would like to read. Don't follow rules too much. They will just make mental road blocks. I don't outline, so you can get by without it if you prefer. I only make a few notes and let my imagination take care of the rest. When it feels finished, then it is. Don't put in a bunch of "fillers" to make your book longer. Just write what is pertinent. No one wants to read ramblings. Write what you know, but don't limit yourself. Research is good. If you don't understand or believe it, then your readers won't either. Make friends with other authors. They are your best resource. A mentor is a gem.

I'm making notes for my 3rd book. It's going to be in the New Adult genre (my other two are young adult), so I feel like I'm walking into new territory. I'm still working out the details, letting myself daydream away, but the story is coming together in my mind beautifully and I'm really excited about it.

I often feel the invisible nudge to write at all hours of the day (and night), but it's stronger after I read a remarkably moving book or watch a movie/television show. If someone can make me feel deep emotions (especially through words), then I want to reciprocate and make others feel something equally memorable.

It was the combination of a daydream and the desire to create something unique. I wanted to push the boundaries of a person's comfort level and create a young adult romance that is slightly unconventional.
