Scott M. Sullivan I'll get an idea and go from there. Sometimes the story keeps going and a novel will be born. Other times the story will lose steam and I'll abandon it. I have lots of half-finished stories. Someday maybe they will get a second look. That being said, inspiration can come at any time and from any thing.
Scott M. Sullivan Keep writing. The more your write, the more polished your writing will become. You will get negative feedback. It is impossible to please everyone. Some will be quite vocal about their displeasure with your story, or even with you as a writer. Don't ignore the negative, though. Read it. And if it is written constructively, then learn from it and become better.
Scott M. Sullivan Creation. Whether it's characters, or worlds, or plots, the process of creating is (at least to me) the most rewarding part of being a writer. In the grand scheme of things, though, it is knowing that someone else read and enjoyed your story. To be able to bring entertainment to someone's life is a great feeling.
Scott M. Sullivan Click "save" and walk away. I'll go for a run, or hang out with my family, or do anything but write. Often times life will provide the answers I can't find by staring at a white screen and blinking cursor. Writer's block is a frustrating experience. However, finding the answer that gets the writing going again is a rewarding experience.
