I got the idea for my most recent book, Where the Moths Dance, from wandering around old graveyards. We have two wonderful graveyards near where we live, where we sometimes walk our dog. They are very atmospheric with old, cracked gravestones, stone angels, and shadowy trees. In one, several people have seen a man, dressed in a Victorian suit and bowler hat, roaming the graveyard. He is believed to be the ghost of somebody buried there.
I have always been interested in ghosts and the paranormal, so the old graveyards provided me with the setting for my book, and my love of watching TV shows such as Ghost Whisperer and Medium provided inspiration for the story.

Always believe in yourself. Never give up, no matter how many times you are rejected. There are people out there who will love what you write, it's just a matter of finding them. Write the books that you would like to read and your voice will shine through.

I am lucky in that I have never really had writer's block - I have so many ideas for stories rattling around inside my head! But if I am stuck at a particular part of my writing, or I am struggling to resolve a certain issue with the plot, or a character, I find that taking my dog for a walk, being out in the fresh air and open spaces, really helps to get the ideas flowing.
