Troy Black I just thought it was something I could do, so I tried writing a novel in high school. It was horrible.

Once I started following Christ, God began to grow in me an already initiated desire to tell stories. Now, my hope is to always include His story of grace in my writing, whether in a straight forward manner or through allegory.
Troy Black The answer people usually give to this is "Write. Write. Write." I guess the better at writing you become, the more likely that you'll be published?

My answer is different. I say, write what you love. If you're writing about something you love, you won't give up when it gets hard.

Another snippet of advice is don't use words like "snippet."
Troy Black You get to grow your hair long, sit around in pj's, and consume copious amounts of coffee as a nutritious supplement. JK. Yes, I'm a writer and I just typed "JK." Actually, since I started writing my self-care habits have improved. I really don't know how that works.

The best thing about being a writer is hearing the phrase "Your book changed my life," because that's when I know God was using it for His purpose.
Troy Black I never have writer's block. Isn't that crazy. My problem is finding the time to write.
