Anna Simon If you have a story to tell, start writing. Don't worry about getting a perfect first sentence on the page. Just put your thoughts in writing. You can go back later to edit and craft that perfect opening line.
Anna Simon As a newspaper reporter (although now retired), writing is a way of life. Even in retirement, I write part time for Clemson University and Clemson's "Glimpse" research magazine. I love meeting people and hearing their stories.
Anna Simon I was a newspaper reporter in 2004 and wrote about the death of Capt. Kimberly Hampton, local woman who was a helicopter pilot and was shot down in Iraq. About a year later her parents, Ann and Dale Hampton, contacted me and asked if I would help them write a book about their daughter's life and also about their lives after her death. They wanted a book that would be inspirational for young people through Kimberly's example, and that also would be inspirational for any parent who has lost a child.
