Cherry Gilchrist I'm not convinced it exists. I think we all go through cycles of energy, and the 'fallow' time can be when the unconscious is working on ideas - you just need to give them time to develop. Sooner or later, the impulse to begin writing springs up again. Having said that, it doesn't hurt to keep small writing tasks or exercises on the go, rather like keeping your muscles in trim ready for the next marathon.

Cherry Gilchrist Keep going, be patient, have courage. Be ready to take advice and work with an editor though, even though you have to maintain your own inner compass on what you write.

Cherry Gilchrist 'The Circle of Nine', my most recent book, is a much-revised and expanded version of the book I first wrote back in 1988. Yup, a long time ago! The feminine archetypes it describes are timeless, but my life has come a long way since, and I wanted to update it for modern women. And also to reflect my experience as a grandmother, as well as 'maiden and mother'.
