My list is long, but here are a few highlights! Path Into Darkness (A County Clare Mystery) by Lisa Alber. The first books in the series were fantastic - can't wait for this one (coming August 8!) Also, Betrayal at Iga by Susan Spann. This is the latest installment in her awesome Hiro Hattori mystery series, and is out July 11. And, because I LOVED her latest, Strange the Dreamer, I'll be reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

The moment when the characters start to take on so much of a life of their own that story and plot points come up that I never saw coming. I love the way I can't ever really plan a book. After a certain point, plot and characters take over and make it their own. And that is as close to magic as I can get in this old world, I think.

Dead Before Dying was acquired by Diversion Books just before Christmas and I don't have any of the details yet that would allow me to put it up here on Goodreads. I'm currently engaged in nefarious plotting for the 2nd book in my new paranormal mystery series. The first book - Dead Before Dying - was recently acquired by Diversion Books. I don't have a date for release yet, but it's definitely time to get started on the sequel. Hint: fun with undertakers, tattoo parlors, a retirement home, and a trail of dead bodies.

If I'm blocked, I've learned there's usually a reason. It doesn't mean I should stop writing, although sometimes it means I need a nap. Or a shower. If I have a muse, she definitely hangs out in the shower and it's amazing how many problems get solved there. Sometimes it means I need to change something about the story, or spend time getting into a character's head.
