Inspiration to write comes from everywhere: other books, movies, conversations, or news stories. I love it when I read a really good book and I think, "Man, I wish I wrote that! Or wish I could write like that!" It makes you want to up your game. It really inspires you to push yourself as a writer.

Don't give up and be patient. There are plenty of obstacles along the way to publishing your work and most of them include rejection. Also keep in mind that, publishing involves a lot of "hurry up and waiting" too. You get a good response to your query and they ask for pages. Yeah! Now you have to wait for them to read the pages. They ask for a full manuscript. Yeah! Now you have to wait for a response to your full. It can test one's resolve and one's nerves but its the name of the game. Those who succeed are not only tenacious but also have the patience of Job!

I'm working on a few projects simultaneously. But when it comes to work I know will be published, I'm working on a new series about a family that lives in the fictional town of Chesterton, Virginia, where my current Gibbons Gold Digger series takes place. It involves a lot of drama, intrigue... I call it my black version of Downton Abbey and my editor calls it the book version of The Haves and the Have Nots. This one is definitely more of a women's fiction work than romance, which is what I usually write. But I love the characters and their dynamics. I'm having fun writing it.
