Heidi Garrett I'm a meandering and moody reader so I don't keep a reading list!
Heidi Garrett I have 3 answers for this question:)

My enduring favorite fictional couple is Aragorn and Arwen from Lord of the Rings. Why? I am a romantic in the purest sense of the word, which means I believe humans can express the highest qualities of character. A & As love expresses devotion, faith, and inspiration. Even in their darkest hours, A & A remain faithful to their inner experience of love, in spite of long separation and events in the external world that ask them, push them, influence them to deny or abandon their love. Their love gives them both a guiding light, and that light spreads until it illumines the whole world of Middle Earth. Kind of awesome!

My contemporary (although maybe not that contemporary anymore!) favorite fictional couple is Jake and Rose from the movie the Titanic. Yes, I hear the groans, lol. BUT I lost my mother when I was young and the concept of living on, and the memory of someone you love giving you strength through the years, is so powerful to me and I thought it was excellently shown in that movie when Rose returns the Heart of the Ocean back to the depths where she last saw Jack ...

And ... on finding your own true love, soul mate ... whatever ... my favorite story is Chasing Amy ... because well, you need to keep your eyes and heart open so you don't miss them when they show up:)

Thanks for the question!
Heidi Garrett Read. Read a lot. Literature changes with the times. Keep current.
Heidi Garrett It requires constant growth, so if you love to learn it's a wonderful thing to do!
Heidi Garrett I relax and write. Which means I shut down my inner critic, start typing and don't judge. When I do that, in a matter of time, things will begin to flow and I'll reach that place where I'm not thinking about what I'm writing, I'm just writing, which is pure bliss.
Heidi Garrett Half Faerie, the first book in the Daughter of Light series will be released soon! Originally published in 2012 as two separate books, I'm excited to be releasing it in 2014 as it was originally envisioned. The story is inspired by three great loves of mine, the first being my grandma. When she passed I wanted to write a story about a young female character who develops a close emotional bond with an older female character who supports the younger character in becoming true to her self. The older character needed to be quite memorable, thus Flora, the spring faerie and one of the most well-loved characters in the series was born.

My husband is the second strong love influence in the book. We fell in love rather quickly. The element of Nandana's mark, and how it draws Melia and Ryder together, is symbolic of that profound and otherwise inexplicable experience.

At the end of every year we watch Peter Jackson's entire Lord of the Ring. That fantastical fight between good and evil, and the pure love between Aragorn and Arwen, is the third great love of mine that has been a tremendous influence on Daughter of Light.
