I was up in Healdsburg and ran into a fellow who owned vineyards in and around the Napa Valley, some along the Sacramento River delta. He told a story of illicit crops planted by slave laborers who were ferried all the way up from Mexico by drug cartels, to work in secret, at night, along the river banks.
