Just finished The Great Deflategate Conspiracy: A Farce of Our Times. It's a satire on the whole deflategate controversy in the NFL. I've wanted to do a non-fiction book on my team, The New England Patriots, for a long time, but kept running into obstacles for the project I envisioned. Then I decided to do a novel, but just as I was getting into it, deflategate exploded in January. As time went on and I saw that this absurd story was building inexplicable momentum, I changed my focus…and then really narrowed it to take advantage of the controversy for the sake of marketing. So instead of a novel, I decided to make it a novella…and then it became a novelette, which to be honest, I didn't even realize was a form until a few weeks ago.

I've rarely experienced writer's block, maybe because I consider whatever blockage that comes along as part of the process. In any case, my two go-to remedies have been to put on my headphones and listen to the Rolling Stones at full volume or to go for a nice long quiet walk alone. I do much more of the latter these days, and it always works.
