(view spoiler)[I wanted to show that MC's perspective of the world was flawed and that she didn't always view events in the bigger picture. I also wanted to show how she was viewed by others, putting her into perspective. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[The Jackals are the adversaries and the reason for the sacrifices' disappearance. They are similar to the wolves in Beauty and the Beast, but providing their own unique version of antagonists in At One's Beast. The Jackal's Horn is my incorporation of myth into the story as it originates in South Asian culture as having magical abilities. (hide spoiler)]

At One's Beast is written for a contemporary audience and I wanted to stay true to my setting as well as my readers. The novel is a fantasy and in my world the characters are much like those you might find in your neighborhood, they have their own slang and nicknames. I wanted the story to come alive to contemporary teens.

I work on something else writing related, such as my author platform. I'm also constantly reading and thinking about what I'm working on and what I will be working on in the future.

I'm working on a new YA novel about death, life, and food challenges. I got the idea from a local dive's food challenge and my fascination with high school life, drama, and relationships. I also had a recent bout of nostalgia for my high school best friend and that relationship we had.
