I take long walks, read a wide variety of books, which usually trigger ideas, and don't fret about down time as no one can be "on" all the time. Worrying about not writing only makes it that much harder to write. I also write in my journal to get rid of stressful ideas that might be blocking my more creative thoughts.

I'm working on Dance of the Jaguar Woman: Book Two of The Mayan Chronicles and also a memoir tentatively called Returning Home,which revolves around my childhood. My family spent winters in Guadalajara, Mexico and summers in a small coastal town in Maine, two very distinct places that have had profound impacts on my adult life.

I read a lot of books in all different genres and do a lot of walking, which allows me to relax and helps me focus on ideas that are percolating around in my head.

The ideas for this novel came from my frequent trips to Mexico, particularly the Yucatan Peninsula, and also from some very vivid dreams I've had over the past several years.
