Eric Munger Wow, that's actually a tough one because the idea has been with me a long time. I first shared the concept of Storm Grazer Rising with my wife nearly twenty years ago, though it took me nearly nineteen years to finally begin writing it. I've always had an active imagination. When my son was young, I'd make up stories for him at bedtime, and I think there's always been something creative unfolding in my mind. At its core, the spark may have been simple: looking at storm clouds and wondering what it would be like to step into them and gather their power in your hands. That question eventually became Lavonshia.
Eric Munger That's a great question. Writing isn't usually a chore for me, so I don't often think in terms of needing motivation. I genuinely enjoy the creative process - even when I'm wrestling with sentences that refuse to cooperate. I hope I've learned to push through those moments and keep moving. The editing will make beautiful what I struggled to say the first time I wrote it. If there's inspiration, it likely comes from reading great books and knowing other writers wrestle with the same challenges. If they can persevere through the difficult drafts, so can I.
Eric Munger Stick with it. Some days you'll feel like giving up. Some days you'll doubt your writing. But be persistent. Keep writing. Keep drafting. And be prepared to edit. Alot.
Eric Munger Building a world that feels lived in - then watching readers step into it. Seeing characters and places from Lavonshia come alive in someone else's imagination is incredibly rewarding!
Eric Munger I'm currently working on Storm Grazer Forsaken, the second installment of The Lavonshia Chronicles. The story pushes deeper into the fractures that began in Storm Grazer Rising - loyalties strain, old and shadowed powers move more openly, and the growing cost of promises and choices made. I'm also finishing a companion short story titled Garran The Oathbound. It explores characters and events that exist on the edge of the main series and gives readers a glimpse into parts of Lavonshia not yet fully revealed. That story will be available exclusively to readers in my newsletter community. You can visit my website ericmunger.com to sign up for my newsletter if you haven't done so yet. I've loved writing the characters and details of this world, and continuing to expand it with these upcoming stories - and I'm grateful for the readers who've joined me on the journey so far!
