crystal fletcher I'm still trying to figure this one out...but what I have found helpful is to give myself permission to write and not get caught up in all the negativity that sometimes creeps in my head i.e. not making enough money to justify all the time I'm spending @ my computer. Write because you love it, because it's who you are.

What are you currently working on?

crystal fletcher I am working on a novel about the Beothuks (First Nations) in Newfoundland. They're extinct. It's a historical fiction based on true events and people. The novel was a little shorter than I wanted and rather than bulk it up to increase word count I noticed similar theme threads in my first unpublished novel (Tears from the Sea). This got me thinking...perhaps, I can bring Tears back to life by threading the two works together. Not as what was done in BBTB but bringing the two cultures together. I'm still trying to figure out how to accomplish this:).

How do you get inspired to write?

crystal fletcher I've always wanted to write but didn't know what to write about. When I was travelling through SE Asia I was having such a great time I lingered a little longer in Malaysia (in particular, Cameron Highlands) so I was behind schedule. This ended up being a good thing as the 2004 tsunami swept through the southern Thailand which was my next stop. I was so grateful to be spared but couldn't stop thinking about those who were not so lucky. This was the inspiration for my first novel--Tears from the Sea which has not been published. I am however currently revisiting and revising it.
