A writer friend of mine encouraged me to enter a flash fiction contest. Which is a story in less than 1000 words. I was convinced I could never do that. But I gave it a try and discovered that a story distilled down to its core is quite fun.
I had been doing research and came across the myth of King Lykanos. So I wrote a story, entered that contest and won. That story is the prologue to Lykaia.

I call it book thrall. I can tell when a story is coming and that I'll have to write soon. Each story has a feel and a weight to it. But the characters let me know when its time.

I am firmly convinced that writer's block comes from the writer. Stories have a life of their own. They will not be contained or controlled. It is when we decide what we think they should be that there are issues. My advice is to just get out of the way. Let the story do the work.

The first book that I recall falling in love with was Alice in Wonderland. I've often equated writing with a trip through the looking glass.

I was writing all summer and didn't get a chance to read much. But that didn't stop my TBR stack from growing. The cold weather has returned. So it's the perfect time to see what adventures are waiting between the pages.

I don't know how many there will be. But I am working on #4. And I know there will be a #5.
