Craig W. Turner Write. Keep writing. And accept that the first thing you put on paper won't be gold. So rewrite.
Craig W. Turner I'm currently having a blast writing a political thriller that demonstrates how little voters are actually in charge of deciding who leads them. Get to use all of the great stories I had from serving in the trenches of local politics. Can't wait for you to read it!
Craig W. Turner Two answers:

One, I try to use "downtime" such as standing in line or driving to organize in my mind the next chapter so that when it's writing time, there's no staring at the blank screen.

Second, there's no inspiration like having my kids take interest in the fact that I'm a writer. They'll often ask me to open Microsoft Word so they can work on their book, which is so great to hear. I love doing something that makes them proud.
Craig W. Turner While finishing my last book, another political thriller being repped by the d4eo Agency, I of course collected a notebook full of other ideas I could some day dig into. One stood out, and as I looked into some of the books that are being published right now by authors like Steve Berry, Clive Cussler and David Baldacci, and especially coming out of the wackiness of 2020, I thought this story would fit right in.
