Matthew Williams The sound was feint, little more than a whisper, but from inside this world of dreams I could hear my boy whimpering 'daddy' at my bedside; I guessed he'd had another nightmare. I opened my blurry eyes and rolled over to look at him, the glistening of the sharp blade as it was plunged into my chest is the last thing that I remember before waking up in this hospital bed, was that really my son?
Matthew Williams Disc world for me! And I'd go and hang out with Death and Mort lol
Matthew Williams Hi Siobhan, my books are not related to one another so you can read them in any order you like. Thanks for asking :-)
Matthew Williams I've just started reading 'The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy' which is a five book series. So along with writing 'Talia's Kiss' and working I doubt I'll be reading too much more than that. Just finished 'Thinner' by Stephen King, but fancied a change of genre for the first time in a while.
Matthew Williams My Inspiration to write actually came from my career as an engineering manager. At school there were few people less likely than myself to actually publish a novel, let alone more! I struggled with English right up until my final year when a brilliant teacher called Mrs Hughes pointed out that I was dyslexic.
Wow! It made such a difference just knowing why I had been struggling so much. I started reading more, it helped to beat my demons and also helped me to pass English and gain distinctions in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.
It was 1999 when I was up for a promotion that my dyslexia demons came back, OH NO! I'd have to use written communication and it was terrifying. I decided to write a story to help beat them again, and it worked well enough.
It was many years later when I found the story that I had written and read it back. I was shocked at how well it compared to many of the books that I had read. So I turned this short story into a 100,000 word novel and published 'The Shady Corner' after that I was just in love with writing. :-)
Matthew Williams I still class myself as an aspiring writer, I only have two published novels and I am always trying to learn how to be better at what I do. The best advice I can give to anyone who wants to write is this - Listen to your critics, read as much as you can and above all, enjoy what you do.
Matthew Williams Obviously it's something that I love doing, but without a doubt the best thing about it is when my stories connect with a reader and I can see that they really understood what I was feeling when I wrote it. Support and feedback is the fire that keeps all writers going.
Matthew Williams During my life I have brushed with death twice without getting harmed. I guess that's pretty mysterious and there is probably a book in it - I think it may have been done already though :-)

1/ When I was 18 months old I was run over by a reversing car and the only injury I sustained was a graze on my head where the car knocked me down. I was in the national papers as the 'Bionic Baby!'

2/ Aged 7, I was sat in front of the fire and stood up at the very moment that 50kg's of stone fell off the wall and cracked the slate fire hearth. Okay it may not have killed me but it would have been very serious.

Maybe someone out there is looking out for me lol
Matthew Williams My most recent book - SHADOWCHILD - has been in the making for quite some time. The idea of controlling shadows to manipulate people and events was where the core of the story was born. I mainly wanted to do something I haven't seen before, hopefully I've done what I set out to do; now it's finally out I guess I'll find out.
Matthew Williams I am currently working on a project I call Talia's Kiss, I have written a few chapters and it is coming together nicely so far.
