David R. Powell I keep toying with the idea of writing a novel--the great American one, but being with my twin grandsons several days a weeks is a positive reason not to get started.
David R. Powell Because I was writing about things that concerned me and which I felt needed to be said, writing my chapters was very therapeutic. I always heard that when one is mad, one should write a letter and either burn it or bury it. I think about half of my chapters has the same effect.
David R. Powell Since I wrote my book over a very long span of time, I put it together in pieces which made writer's block a non-issue. Each chapter is about different things, so I wrote them when the issue or idea was on my mind. However, if I were writing a novel, I would want to do it more or less continuously.
