Bethany Jett The last book "Through the Eyes of Hope" is Lacey Buchanan's story, and it was an honor to write it. This current project was born out of teaching a couple of workshops at conferences, as well as knowing that women are always comparing themselves (me included) to what we consider perfection. The current project is a book that will explore our souls, and how we treat ourselves, as well as focusing on who God made us to be.
Bethany Jett Honestly, sometimes it's TV, sometimes it's from another book. People say they have the best ideas while in the shower - because your brain has time to think randomly. That happens for me when I watch TV and read.
Bethany Jett I feel bad that I'm just answering this now -- a year ago I was working on the book Through the Eyes of Hope with Lacey Buchanan and the companion devotional. The book released in January and the devotional will release in May.

Now I'm working on a proposal for another book - hopefully we'll get a contract!
Bethany Jett Go to a writers conference. It's totally worth the investment if you feel a passion for writing and want to know if it's something worth pursuing. Every industry professional I know has the same advice.

My other advice is to read a lot (also Stephen King's advice). Read and write. A lot.
Bethany Jett The best thing about being a writer is being able to let out all the trapped ideas in words -- that's also the scariest thing!!
Bethany Jett I really like Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy because she's so sassy. No one ever talks like that to him, but she can get away with it. I think they have a healthy respect for each other. I love the book and I love A&E's six-hour mini-series -- stays so true to the novel!
Bethany Jett It depends on what I'm writing, but if you're writing a book, having a chapter breakdown really helped. It allowed me to get The Cinderella Rule written in three months. Also, I would sit down and watch tv episodes of shows related to what I was writing about. Watching television is such a mindless activity, that when something would happen on screen, it would spark a reaction for me and I'd pause and be able to start writing again.
