Jon Wesick When writing a novel I have little trouble describing the initial setup but then hit what I call the 50-page wall. Now I have to turn a setup into a story. To continue I usually brainstorm while focusing on what the characters want. Then I choose the most interesting of the possibilities to go forward.
Jon Wesick I heard of the Jewish legend of the Lamed-Vov, the 36 just men whose existence is necessary for the world's survival, somewhere and thought the story of someone trying to kill them would make a cool story. Researching "Hunger for Annihilation" became a mini study in comparative religion. I attended talks by Huston Smith, Bishop Shelby Spong, and Gangagi. I visited a mosque and UCC Church, went Sufi dancing, and read Gershom Scholem’s writings on the Kabbalah.
