I'm currently working on a story entitled Delayed. It's about two people that meet in the Grand Rapids airport during a winter storm and flights are delayed. The story came to me when I was waiting for a flight back to Florida in Grand Rapids and I met a man from Belgium there. Our flight was delayed several hours due to ice. Once I returned home, I thought...hmmm... that could be a good story.

Inspiration is always there! A song. A moment. A person across the café. For me, it's more about getting the time to write. Once I sit down with a story, I'm usually pretty inspired because I've thought about it for hours or days while filling all the other roles in my life. :)

I write! I know that sounds crazy and simple, but someone once told me that after complaining that I'd hit a wall. They said write. Doesn't matter if it's no good and you have to delete it all afterwards. I've learned that it is true. The wall grows the more we sit and dwell on it. I have had to throw out pages of writing when working through some writer's block, but it kept me writing and I eventually worked through it. :)

For me, the best thing about being a writer is having the ability to bring characters to life. I love the adventure of creating the story.
