Malcolm Havard The next book is my comic The First Book of Gabriel. Let's put it like this; my day job involves me working with land and property, finance and economics and has taken me all over the world. After Gabriel comes out I'll probably never work again....
Malcolm Havard I just love telling stories. The ideas come to me and nag me until I put them down on paper. Then the voices stop.
Sometimes anyway!
Malcolm Havard I am an addict. I have three novels at various stages of writing - actually, thinking about it, make that four - as well as an on-going short story project to add to It Never Was Worthwhile
Malcolm Havard Write a thousand words a day. In 70 days you will have a novel! Seriously though, lesson 1, be bold in your writing, lesson 2, find a really good critical ear. Writers often say they want criticism when what they really want is praise but hunt out people who will not be afraid to tell you what is wrong with your writing not what is good.
Malcolm Havard That's easy; I get to go places, see things and live lives that I, in reality, I will never experience.
Malcolm Havard I am lucky; as yet I have not had it. Sure I have had pieces that I have struggled to finish (like now, I have a short story that needs writing to an end but I am struggling to find the motivation) but that happens generally where I have not planned a piece properly. To me good planning and having a destination (ie an end) in mind before starting writing is the answer to avoiding block problems.
