John Harrison If I get stuck, I work on a different aspect of the project. For example, if the cover isn't done, I work on it. I will also put together marketing blurbs. If all else fails I pull up a different project and work on it.
John Harrison Staying sane. No I mean it. That is the best part.

I have so many ideas flowing through my mind that if I don't write them down, you know to get them out, I would go crazy.

The second best part is hearing how much people love/hate your characters or stories. That is such a rush. To know that I've impacted another person to an extent that they are feeling emotions about it.
John Harrison Write. By all means. do whatever ti takes, but write.

There is this odd notion that there is a huge payout, for writing. There isn't, at least not in cash initially. But there is a great rush for sharing the story that is inexplicable really.

I also want to address the other odd idea that seems to be out there about competition. I know the mentality is real. The I am the best and I won't share my readers with you. If you believe this, I'm sorry. You've missed the point.

There is no such thing as a shortage of readers. There isn't. Every writer and author reads. Every blogger and every reader of course. In fact, there are new potential readers born everyday, Even if you try to drill down to specific kinds or tastes of readers. None of them read only one author. I know I don't.

So instead of putting down or trying to overstep others, be there to help. It's a rough enough industry, we don't need to add to it. I mean, its not as if writing a book ins't enough of an emotional roller coaster or anything.
John Harrison This is a great question.

Currently I am finishing Shadow Play and completing Shadow Flight.

I am also halfway finished with both Sebanik, a story about a boy that can bring things from people's dreams into reality, and Bella Rouge, a journey of self discovery for an amnesiac vampire.

After those are done, I'll jump back to the Shadow Saga and write book 4, 5, & 6. Then I will also complete the Games of Shadows, which is a story dedicated to two of the characters from the Shadow Saga that I feel people will really want to know a bit more about once the whole thing is said and done.

I am also trying my hand at a kind of superhero fiction as well....but more information will be released sometime int he future.
John Harrison Usually this involves some brooding....or was that thinking. Honestly, I'm not sure. I just sit and the ideas flow. I have a harder time turning off the ideas to edit and finalize projects. New ideas are as abundant, in my mind, as shiny distractions are to cats.
John Harrison My most recent book, Shadow Play, was inspired by the same story I started in Shadow Dance. This one, however, was not supposed to be written like it was. It was originally part of a book that will now be the third in the series, Shadow Flight. That book was becoming too large, so an acquaintance of mine, Liana Serrano, suggested that I split it in two...and the rest is well...history.
