On April 20, 1999 two teenage boys killed 13 people and wounded 21 others at Columbine High School. At the time I had three high school age stepchildren. Since then, school shootings have become nearly epidemic. Why they are happening percolated in my mind over the years. I wondered about the impact on not only the victims’ families, but those of the perpetrators. Eventually, those thoughts compelled me to write my third Mike Gage Thriller, THE SHOOTING. I feel it’s almost as though you are reading today’s headlines.
