Julia McDermott I wanted to record what happened to Jack so that we would never forget. I had doctor's notes, receipts, diary entries, calendars, and lots of other things saved from the six month period covered in All the Above. It was hard to write the book and put so much of myself into it, to be an "open book" with my emotional struggle, but it was also therapeutic and healing. And I felt that by telling my story, I may be able to touch others.

Julia McDermott My next book is a thriller with tie-ins to Underwater. It’s not a sequel, but it borrows a few characters from that book, and is also set in Atlanta. It’s another toxic mix of family dysfunction, real estate, money, greed, jealousy…and danger.
Julia McDermott I reread the scene(s) I've just written, and then work on the next dialogue scene even if it isn't going to be the next scene in the story. Then I'm able to get inside my characters' heads. If that doesn't work, I work on something else – I just try to stay productive.
