The idea for Lakota Dreaming came from several different sources. One is the independent film, Unbowed, the love story between an African American female teacher and a Native American prisoner just after the Civil War. I've read many books on genetic memories, so I did a "what if" until I developed a plot that I loved.
The historical aspect of LD is just a thread that's woven into the contemporary story of a career woman who's going through a tough time professionally and a tribal police captain who's trying desperately to improve the lot of his people-the Sioux.

I'm currently working on several manuscripts but the most immediate is a prequel to Lakota Dreaming. It's a historical that explores Julia's life. (For those who haven't read the book, Julia is a woman who escapes slavery and comes to live among the Lakota Sioux.)
