My current book was written as a daily journal during the last few months of my wife's fight with Pancreatic Cancer. It was an outlet for me to record the day, what happened, how I felt about it and how the events impacted on us all as a family and my wife in particular. I wrote a blow by blow account in prose and in verse. Often writing on the laptop whilst sitting by my wife's bed as she lay sleeping.

I can't be sure I just feel hunger to do it as if it has become part of my day to day life...not a habit exactly or a drug but almost like oxygen to the soul.

I am in the process of re-engagement. I was writing the fourth book in the 'One Soul' series when I was persuaded to publish the journal I wrote during my wife's illness.

Keep writing...don't give up. Never be afraid to read other people's work and do it with an open mind.

Since I returned to creative writing I have never suffered 'writer's block ' as such, however, if I have struggled for words I have tended to re-read previous work and wait...clear my mind and then write the first thing that comes to mind. It is often the right thing to do.
