Whenever Dad picked me up from school in that green '78 Mercury Cougar with the constant smell of air freshener, he always had the tape deck playing Led Zeppelin, Iron Butterfly and Blue Öyster Cult with the volume turned all the way up. One day the tape jammed, and in the sudden silence I could hear muffled screams coming from the trunk.
