Cindy McDermott "Working with Really Stupid People: The Relatives" follows my character Jill Fountaine from my first book, "The Neighbors." In that one, she is tormented by people living in her housing development and the oddball things they try to get away with. In "The Relatives," she finds out that things aren't always as black and white as she wants them to be and that some gray is okay, especially when it comes to family.
Cindy McDermott I can't say I'm inspired to write; I just really enjoy doing it. Bringing joy into someone's life is really important to me. I hope I do that in my writing and my interactions every day with people.
Cindy McDermott I'm busy promoting my second book, "Working with Really Stupid People: The Relatives." Promoting your work takes more time than writing.
Cindy McDermott Write and write and write. Then network like crazy. Join a writers group. Get involved with a professional organization. Volunteer at a favorite charity. Build your support group early and constantly add others. And don't be afraid to ask for their help after you've published. They may also be a source for mentors. Everyone should have a mentor.
Cindy McDermott I love the creative process and sharing stories that touch my readers with laughter or tears. Telling stories is absolutely wonderful and I enjoy putting them into words, but in my mind seeing my characters tell the tale.
