Meryl Yourish Until a few years ago, I let it defeat me. But after I got the idea for The Catmage Chronicles, I worked hard to push through what I -thought- was writer's block. Turns out that it was lack of plotting. So now, I wind up calling a friend when I'm stuck, and start talking to her about the plot. She says "Yes" and "Uh-huh" from time to time, and after a few minutes, I figure out what I needed to do and move forward.

The other thing you need to be wary of is the voice inside you telling you that your writing isn't any good. Ignore that voice. Write anyway. When you read what you've written, turns out the voice was lying.
Meryl Yourish I get to daydream, call it "plotting", and then say I'm working. :-)
Meryl Yourish Write every day. Find a good writing workshop when you first start out, and once you're confident enough, get out on your own. Find a good editor and a few good first readers.
Meryl Yourish Darkness Triumphant: Book Three of The Catmage Chronicles.
Meryl Yourish Honestly, I have no idea. I've been writing since I was eleven. I used to answer "Why do you write" with "Why do I breathe?" I simply have to.
Meryl Yourish I was driving to a friend's house and thinking about Harry Potter (I had just seen one of the movies) and the thought just came into my head: What if the CATS had the magic? Boom! A fantasy series about magical cats with human intelligence came into being.
