Stacy McKitrick She walked into the garage and the spider taunted her as it sat blocking her way to the car. But after smushing the nasty arachnid--like she had done to all the others--millions more rained down upon her head in retaliation.
Stacy McKitrick I don't have a list, but I do have a stack of books, waiting for me to read (by Rebecca Zanetti, Karen Rose, Meg Gardiner, Darynda Jones, Allison Brennan, and Karin Slaughter, to name a few). And I'll get to them, eventually, as I'm sure I'll add to the pile, too. I love to read and I always carry a book with me. It's why I have to have a large purse--so it'll hold my book!
Stacy McKitrick No mystery in my life. In fact, my life would make a pretty boring book. Which is why I write fiction. It's so much more interesting.
Stacy McKitrick Believe it or not, I had to go through my list of books to see if one would kick start my brain (getting old sucks) and then...it happened! Yay! Bella and Edward from the Twilight series. I don't remember ever being so obsessed over characters as much as I was with them, so that would be the why.
Stacy McKitrick Hi Shaynee. I'm assuming you mean the Bitten by Love series. I already did a giveaway for My Sunny Vampire when it was first released. Bite Me, I'm Yours has been out for almost a year, but I may do a giveaway to help gain recognition. Although, the next book I giveaway will most likely be Ghostly Liaison, which is not in the same series, but is in the same world (I just don't point out the vampire; only a reader of Bite Me, I'm Yours would recognize him). Thank you for showing an interest in my books. :)
Stacy McKitrick My most recent finished book or my most recent published book or my most recent to be published book… I just find it hard to determine what is my most recent book! 

I’ll go with most recent finished.

BLIND TEMPTATION is about Victoria, a widowed vampire who’d been turned at 17, forced to take driver’s ed (or risk losing her position on the Committee) and Ben, her 39-year-old instructor, who just happens to be blind.

I know, I know. A blind driver’s ed teacher? Yeah, you read that right.

So what made me write about THAT? Well…

I had already created Victoria (in another book not for public consumption) and I wanted the next book to feature another Committee Member. But what kind of hero would interest her? Certainly not teenagers. She’s over 300 years old! But she feels no adult will take her seriously.

Then I remembered the character Auggie from “Covert Affairs.” Do you not know who he is? He’s in the CIA and he’s BLIND. I saw all that he could do, all the neat gadgets he used to integrate, and it intrigued me. A blind hero would be perfect for Victoria. And he had to be older, too. A man, not a boy.

So how could I get these two together and make it interesting? The drivers’ ed class just came to me in the shower. What can I say? But I certainly get a lot of raised eyebrows when I tell them my hero is a blind drivers’ ed instructor. I hope I’ve written these characters enough justice for this book to eventually be published. We’ll see!
Stacy McKitrick If you want to write, then do it. I wasted a lot of time just thinking about if I should write and then when I finally did it, when I finally wrote my first book, I wanted to kick myself. I found something I truly LOVED to do.

But you know what? I stunk! And I knew it (because I read a lot, I know what's good and what isn't, and that first book wasn't good). So I joined some writers groups. I followed writer's blogs. I took class after class after class to learn the craft. And I wrote the next book. And the next.

Having a writer friend you can share each other's work with is also a great way to learn. When you spot your own errors in someone else's work, you may tend to make the mistake less often in your own.

So, if you want to write, then write. The only thing stopping you is YOU.
Stacy McKitrick Most of the time I wake up wanting to write, there is no inspiration. But for those times when I'm not really in the mood, I force myself to do it anyway. I can't wait for inspiration, or the day would be a total loss.

If you want to write, then just write. Don't wait to be inspired. You might be waiting awhile.
Stacy McKitrick I'm revising the third book in my Bitten by Love series and I'm writing the second book in my Ghostly Encounters series. I thought I could do both projects at the same time but I'm finding that may not be the case, so I do mostly revising and just a little bit of writing. Maybe one of these days I can work faster on multiple projects!
Stacy McKitrick The best thing about being a writer is that I can take my work ANYWHERE! When my husband travels, I can now accompany him and still work. I love it!
Stacy McKitrick If I get stuck on a project, I figure it's because I took a wrong turn somewhere (or made a character act out-of-character). Or... I'm still trying to figure out my characters. In my lastest project, I realized I needed to know my villian a little better before I could write any more about my heroes, so I started writing a piece in their point of view. It worked.
