My advice would be to read as much as you can, watch films and most importantly observe the people around you. Understand why they do the things that they do, what is the situation that brought them to the now, and where will they go from here. Learn from books and characters, see how scenes are made in films - each scene has to tell a story, just like each page in the book. Be as observant as possible, around you are stories in everything. Be it an object or a the sadness on a person's face.
