Peter Nealen During "The Devil You Don't Know," they would have been in Kurdistan with Alek and the rest of the primary contract teams. I imagine that when Alek returned to the States in "Lex Talionis," Team Hussein probably would have come with them, but been primarily relegated to support roles, as most of the events in "Lex Talionis" are American problems.

I did consider featuring them in "Lex Talionis," but it would have been little more than a cameo. Maybe I should have, just to wrap everything up, but given the length of the book already, I didn't really have room.
Peter Nealen A large part of the inspiration came from Steven Pressfield's "The Profession." The world he painted was different, but very plausible. After that, I just kind of extrapolated mostly worst-case scenario paths from trends I saw presently occurring, e.g., governments spending money like water that they didn't actually have, growing economic warfare on a global scale, global insurgency, the Arab Spring, etc. Some of these predictions haven't held up all that well; for instance, the Muslim Brotherhood was pushed out of power in Egypt only about a year after I came out with "Task Force Desperate." Others have yet to be seen.
Peter Nealen An increasing interest in the convergence of transnational organized crime, state-run unconventional warfare, international terrorism, and global insurgency.
Peter Nealen "The Walker on the Hills," the next Jed Horn supernatural thriller.
Peter Nealen Practice. I dabbled for years before I actually sat down and wrote "Task Force Desperate." I might not have gotten anything finished in that time, but I learned a lot. Still learning, but those years of starting, throwing out, and starting over helped.
Peter Nealen Actually, I rarely have too much trouble with writer's block, though I might get slowed down every once in a while. Usually doing some reading in the same genre, or further research, helps get the gears turning again.
