Shannyn Schroeder The cover does matter when I'm browsing. That's how something will catch my eye. However, it's not the determining factor for whether I'll buy the book. The back cover copy and reviews help me decide.
Shannyn Schroeder I don't wait for inspiration. I have a collage board with visual inspiration for my characters and I have a soundtrack for the book as I write. The pictures and music put in the right mindset for getting into the story, especially if I've been away from it for a while. Other than that, I sit down and just write.
Shannyn Schroeder I'm currently drafting the sixth and final O'Leary book, which is Maggie's story. It doesn't have a title yet, but it will be out next summer.
Shannyn Schroeder First, keep writing, no matter what. When you finish a book, shop it around, but immediately jump into the next book. You have to get in the habit of constantly producing.

Second, learn to accept rejection. Whether it's an agent, an editor, or a reader, someone will have something negative to say about your writing. Suck it up and know that you can find a reader who will love your story.
Shannyn Schroeder In truth, I haven't really experienced writer's block. I'm great at procrastinating and I routinely find things to do instead of writing. However, when I get stuck, I simply force myself to continue to put words on the page, even though I know I might end up cutting it all out during revisions.
