Writer's block? Bah, humbug!
Open your eyes. Look at something around you. Anything. Now write about it. Or open a book and write down the first sentence you read. Let your mind fill in what comes next and write for 5, 10, 15 minutes. Pick a random verb, noun, adjective (it helps to have a list/bucket of each, or friends to shout them out for you). Now write for 15 minutes including each of the words. Take a walk. Breathe deeply. Now get back to work.
There are countless writing prompts out there to get you through a stagnant period. Find one. See if you can incorporate what you write into a bigger project.

The best thing about being a writer is the ability to surprise yourself every time you write. Sometimes it's a perfect sentence. Sometimes it's your character saying something you had not considered. Sometimes it's a friend making a suggestion that explodes your brain and leads you in a direction that makes your story far more engaging. Writing is organic and flexible. It's a lot of work, but it can also be a lot of playing.

The more you write, the more you write! As soon as you have an idea, about anything, capture it somehow, in a notebook...computer...recorder. You never know what will blossom from a random seed!
Expect rejection from agents. Lots of rejection. But keep writing what you're passionate about.

WATERWIGHT is my first fantasy adventure! I'm currently working on "part 3" and plan to complete the book by Labor Day!

When my 5th grade teacher took us outside and had us peer through the grass on our bellies for poetic inspiration, I realized how much fun playing with words could be. In high school, my journals were my "free shrink." I would pour all of my angst into them, and somehow feel better when I finished each entry. Writing is powerful, and I've always loved reading things that surprise and delight me.

I woke from a startling dream on January 2nd of this year and shared the dream with a friend. She said, "OMG! You HAVE to write a story around that!"
Although I had never written YA/MG fantasy before, I knew I had to write this story, and I've never had so much fun writing in my life! I plan to complete WATERWIGHT and have it available before the end of the year.
