When I write, I start with a solid chapter by chapter outline that I try to visualize as much as possible. That way, when I do get stuck in a chapter, I know that there is another scene that I have thought out and can work on. So I'll work on that scene, and then usually be ready to tackle the block.

Keep writing. Always. You won't be happy the first time, or the second, or maybe even the third. But writing something you don't like is the only way to write something you do.

It's very hard to describe. Generally, I think about the genres I like and try to think of an idea. Usually I need to mull it over in my head and let the real world seep in a little before I can really get it going. So I'd say I get inspired by what I read and what I know.

I got the idea after reading AMERICAN GODS. I've always loved mythology, and seeing it in the modern world was amazing. I wanted to put my own spin on it of course, and make it more of a metaphorical story about forgotten people and how ignorance can be such a destructive force.
