Aside from writing, editing, reading, and writing more, my strongest advice is to find writer friends. There is strength in unity, and having a group of people who totally understand you gives you that foundation you wouldn't otherwise have. Having that support group gives you the courage to see your project through.

Inspiration comes from all places, but having a task list helps get things done. I have a list of things I have to do to do, and a list of ideas when they spark. When one thing doesn't work out, I go to the next item on the list. I love knocking out to-do items.
