L.B. Simmons Music for sure. I have written all of my books to a certain playlist because I do connect so strongly with music and lyrics. Music evokes that emotion that I try so hard to tap into. Plus, I have three kids so when I'm writing, I need an effective way to block out the noise. ;)
L.B. Simmons Hi Samantha! I try to write with emotion. So I guess I would call it embellished experience. LOL! I try to feel what the character is feeling in that very moment and do my best to relay that to the reader. I pull from some things I have gone through, some of my own experiences or fears, but really in that moment I AM the character and feel what they feel. The stories all come from a scene in my head that I feel is the most powerful, and I just weave the story around that one scene.
L.B. Simmons Music. If I feel blocked, I step back from the story and focus on where I am blocked and try to find music to help me emotionally connect with that part. I work through it and try to put myself in the characters shoes, experience what they are feeling, and hopefully with enough time, I figure out what they are telling me to write.
L.B. Simmons Gah. I love this question. For me, it's the ability to get to know these amazing characters. Falling in love with them. Laughing with them and crying with them. They write themselves...I just put it onto paper. And I love that.
L.B. Simmons Success doesn't come overnight. It takes time to build a reader base. And also, with every new book you write, you get better. Keep writing and creating amazing stories and you can't go wrong! Don't focus on rank, making a list, the number of books you sell...just WRITE. :)

L.B. Simmons MUSIC! Before I begin writing, I start to compile a playlist of music that inspires me and evokes emotions for certain scenes. If I hear a song and I "feel" it for a certain part of the book or know that it will tie into the emotions my characters feel, I will save it onto the playlist. Listening to music and setting up my playlist is actually where I get some of my really powerful and emotionally charged scenes. :)
L.B. Simmons I was trying to plot out the next book in my Mending Hearts Series, and the ideas started coming about a woman afraid of death. I had initially started this to be Harlow's story, and her having issues with death, but then the ideas came together and I knew that the story had to be a standalone. And so became The Resurrection of Aubrey Miller. :)
