Hi George, Thanks for this and for your subsequent email. I'm delighted that A CALCULATED LIFE (which opens with a scene where Jayna tends her stick insects) has inspired the title of your recording! I do enjoy seeing inspiration migrating to another art form. Good luck!

Hi Michael. You are correct! The Enclave forms the first three chapters of Bridge 108. I made some minor changes to those chapters so that they sat well within the overall arc of the novel. I loved switching between point of view characters in The Enclave, and felt there was so much scope for other characters in the novella to come to the fore. Hope you enjoy it! And a happy new year to you.

Hi Hope, I don't know. I can only guess that, at the time, 47North was looking through self-published titles for this particular subject matter, noted that the book had several good reviews, and liked my writing style and the book's title. My lucky day.

Hi Al, I'm so sorry I didn't spot your question sooner. I'm delighted you enjoyed A Calculated Life! That's great to hear. The Enclave is now available as a kindle ebook on Amazon (and for other Ereaders shortly, I believe). I'm in the midst of adding The Enclave to Goodreads.
It isn't a sequel to ACL. It cuts across the world of ACL and has a new set of characters. I hope you enjoy it. I certainly enjoyed returning to the enclaves in my imagination. And I still believe the novel doesn't need a sequel. Many thanks for your interest. Anne
PS I'd love to say there are deliberate allusions to Tolstoy and Proust, but they weren't intended. If there seem to be connections it might be the result of coincidence in our thematic interests...?

I'm on the go with two writing projects. I'm polishing a novella that spans from present day to the near future. I read an excerpt from this novella at Norwescon in Seattle and the reaction was very encouraging. And I'm in the midst of writing my second novel! This new novel is also set in different time periods—past, present and future. So that's quite a challenge but I'm loving every minute (well, nearly every minute).
