Hi, Shana--
Just found this question lurking in the shadows! So sorry it took a while to answer.
The series, A Place to Call Home, is concluded, but we will not lose track of the people in Last Chance. Look for them to pop up in other series set in southern New Mexico.

Inspiration is highly overrated. Sometimes I get caught up in my story and i can't type fast enough to keep up with my characters. Other times, they all go take naps and I'm left alone staring at my keyboard. But you have to keep writing.

I'm finishing up the fourth novel in my A Place to Call Home series. This one's called Last Chance Hero and it's about the high school football coach and the new doctor in town.

Write. Keep writing. Go to conferences and meet other writers and industry professionals. Finish your masterpiece. Polish it. Stop polishing it and send it out. Polish it some more and send it out again. .And again and agin, if necessary. Write. Keep writing.

I always imagined that the best thing about being a writer would be having a book with my name on the cover--and there's a lot to be said for that! But there is so much more. I've met some wonderful writers, so I have books with my friends names on the cover, too! People I would never have known otherwise have contacted me because they liked my books, and I've been able to get to know them a bit, and that's been wonderful. And, maybe not best, but certainly up there, you get to play with your imaginary friends all day, and everyone thinks that's just fine!

Oh, I whine a lot. I check my emails. I get up and go look in the pantry. But actually, the only effectivel way I've found to deal with writer's block is to make myself sit in front of my computer with hands on keys for an appointed time--a half hour is good. It can be excruciating, but usually by the end of that time, I'm writing.
