Patrick de Moss It's funny. I try to keep my "work in progress" as close to my chest as possible. For some reason, telling the story before I tell the story kills a little of the magic for me. At the moment, if anyone asks, I tell them I'm working on a collection of poems called "Imagining Rick James", and hope it will keep them from asking too much more.
Patrick de Moss "Kings of Nowhere" sort of...evolved, I guess you could say. I had come to "Dizzy Miss Kitty" (one of the short stories in it) and got a glimpse at a spectacular lay of the land, I guess you could say. It was really only then that I thought that I could put together a collection where one story spoke to the next. After that, the rest of the stories (or at least the ideas for them) opened up. It was like going from a hallway into a room full of really interesting looking doors, I guess is one of the best ways I can think of putting it.
