John Lansing I am, Rich. I'm already writing the next book in the series. And as long as Jack Bertolino keeps me interested, I'll be turning out the books. Thanks for asking.
John Lansing I'm presently reading Jo Nesbo's, "The Thirst." I've downloaded onto my Kindle, David Baldacci's, "The Fix," John Sandford's, "Golden Prey, and Lee Child's, "Night School." The list will grow as the days get longer, and I finish the edit of the next book in my Jack Bertolino series.
John Lansing I don't wait for inspiration. I'm compelled to write. I'm in love with the process.
John Lansing I think I had read one too many stories about drive by shootings in the Los Angeles area where a child was killed by a stray bullet. And then I thought about life imitating art, and the tragedy became the impetus, the way in, to tell the story of Dead Is Dead.
John Lansing "Mia" is the 6th book in my Jack Bertolino series, and is going to be released on June 4th 2024. Mia is the prequel to my Jack Bertolino series and I just finished narrating my first audiobook. Mia, provides both the origin story of retired inspector Jack Bertolino as an undercover, NYPD narco-busting detective and introduces Mia, his Colombian confidential informant. I look forward to your thoughts.
John Lansing Write every day. It sounds simple, but the process gets more facile when you plug into the material on a constant basis.
John Lansing I come from a show business background, and there was a casting director, or a producer, or a star that had to give me the nod to go to work. If you're writing novels, you don't need permission from anybody to ply your trade. It's one of the few art forms that is totally self motivated.
John Lansing I don't allow the thought to enter my mind. If nothing sparks on a particular day, I'll rewrite, and that usually turns into expanded work and new ideas.
