Hi, Juanita. I'm happy that you enjoyed the Novel Idea mysteries. The publisher did not continue the series past the 5th book. I was also disappointed because I loved writing the characters.

Hi, Hilary. There are no plans for any more books in the Novel Idea series at this time. I enjoyed the characters and wish there would have been an opportunity to write more of their stories. Thank you for asking.

Great question, PJ. I drew the idea for a dog from a real-life experience. A family member was visited by a therapy dog in the hospital and I was amazed by the impact this dog made on her recovery process. I knew my protagonist, an ex-Marine, would have PTSD and thought she would need a dog to see her through difficult times. I researched military working dogs and became intrigued by the fact that many K9s also suffer from PTS. So, I worked this into the story. Through this whole process, I've gained a new appreciation for military working dogs—they are true heroes during war-time service and after military retirement.

I'm currently reading John Lescroart's FATAL and Lisa Unger's THE RED HUNTER--both are excellent--and I'm anticipating Ruth Ware's THE LYING GAME. I'm also in the mood for a family saga, so I may reread THE THORN BIRDS, by Colleen McCullough.

The initial idea for SPLINTERED SILENCE came from a brainstorming session with my agent. From there, I developed it into an outline, which we rewrote several times until we felt confident with the synopsis and the scope of the proposal.

Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in Austen's Pride & Prejudice. Why? Definitely the romantic tension between the two of them.

Read as much as you can in your targeted genre. Then write the best book possible, submit it to agents and editors, and move on to your next story. Read, Write, Submit, Repeat.

Writing is strange. Some days the words flow and other days every single word takes effort. On those difficult days, I simply keep writing. Usually, I can work through the block.

I don't wait for inspiration. I set a schedule for writing and stick to it. If I waited for inspiration, I probably wouldn't accomplish much writing.

I'm wrapping up edits on my cozy mystery, War and Peach, 2/2017 (Berkley) and working on a new dark suspense series featuring a PTSD afflicted female military vet and her working dog. It debuts in 2018 with Kensington Books.
