Tim Rymel I don't get writer's block. I have more to say than I have time to write it. The hardest part of writing for me is wordsmithing, or saying it in a way that touches people's hearts.
Tim Rymel I think it's different for everyone. For me, it's getting all the jumbled thoughts and feelings out of my head, organizing them on paper and connecting with other human beings who have the same thoughts and feelings. Writing seems like a lonely thing to do, but really I've never felt so connected or alive.
Tim Rymel It's what my therapist told me when I was on the verge of writing Going Gay, "If you're going to follow your passion, you've got to let go of the little things that keep you from pursuing it." In other words, let go of the lesser responsibilities and pick up the bigger one of writing your story. People need to hear your story more than you need to have a spotless house.

Tim Rymel I am mostly inspired by people who take issue with my message and question me. I like the challenge of thinking how an answer would best reach them. It's the educator in me that loves to see lightbulbs turn on.
Tim Rymel I was part of the ex-gay movement of the 1990s and I saw the damage done in the lives of many people, including my own. It was a story that needed to be told to bridge the gap between the right and the left on the issue of homosexuality.
