An interesting question and my answer is limited to the books I've read. After all, how can I go to a fictional world that I never read about?
I think it would be interesting to visit the world of Scottish policeman Hamish Macbeth (created by M.C. Beaton). It's an area of the world I'd like to visit. What would I do there? I'd be Hamish's constable.

I'm not one to create a summer reading list because summer is the same as every other time of the year for me. I'm currently reading Elizabeth George's book A Great Deliverance, then will dive into Life of Pi. I also want to work through Donald Maass' book The Breakout Novel. I do expect to enjoy some of my reading time outside in the sun. :)

I lead a very boring life so no mysteries here. There are a lot of elements from my life I could use to build a plot, and I use my life experiences to create story characters and themes. Because of my military background, I often have at least one veteran or one active duty person in my fictional stories. And as we all know, the military has plenty of secrets.

I don't have one. I prefer a single protagonist.

I don't "get inspired." I sit down and I write. To help the creative juices percolate and flow I listen to music--movie soundtracks mostly because I don't want lyrics conflicting with the story I'm trying to get out of my head. During the summer I like to sit outside to work.

I'm currently working on my first full novel. Mystery at Maple Hill is my first published short story, but with "Sally and the Cowboy" (working title) I'm aiming for a full length novel. I started it during NaNoWriMo of 2012. I've still got a long way to go. It got shelved while I worked on my non-fiction Carried by Grace (released on Kindle Jan. 2015). Now I can turn my writing attention to fiction--that is when I'm not writing blog posts. :)

I'm not sure I even agree there is such a thing. I think those who wait for inspiration to hit find themselves in writer's block. When I plan to write, I sit down and write, no matter whether I feel inspired or not.
