J. Nathan Couch With fiction, a good song will often inspire me. Whatever feeling bubbles up, with then turn into a manuscript.

With Fortean topics, it depends on what subject is most interesting at the time. For instance, if I sudden want to learn something new about a certain cryptid I'll begin an article or blog post. Sometimes that turns into an entire manuscript.
J. Nathan Couch I've got several ideas: a book on personal paranormal experiences, an Ozaukee County, Wisconsin paranormal book, and another cryptozoology book. And then there's that novel that I'm stuck on. I've no idea which one will win out.
J. Nathan Couch Write, write, write. Even if your writing is terrible. If you stay at it, and learn about your craft, you'll steadily improve. I wanted to give up lots of times, but I stayed with.

J. Nathan Couch For me, it's leaving a dream. As a child who was obsessed with comic books, I wanted to draw. When I realized that wasn't a skill I possessed, I decided I wanted to write.

If I don't have a deadline, I abandon the piece and start something else. I've came back to a piece, months, sometimes years later, and finally figured out what I was trying to say.

The very idea that someone saw something so fantastic left a lasting impression. I quickly realized I wanted to know everything I could know about Goatman.
