Since I lead a quiet and uneventful life, I have no secrets that would make for a plot in a novel. I have had, however, a number of surgical procedures and have worked the odd one or two into my stories but giving them a cause to suit the story rather than why I had to have them.

I'll answer your comment about the cover first... The group I went through for books 1 and 2 restricted me to a set of templates for my covers. I chose the one I liked best and worked with it. Book 3's cover is because I went through a different publisher and it is how I wanted the covers for books 1 and 2 to look like. No, I have not made many sales. Whether this is because of the covers or because books 1 and 2 were so over priced while I was with my first publisher, I don't know. Probably both. My advice is to research totally before parting with money. A good (cheap) price does not mean quality. Self publishing should allow you to do what you want to do from beginning to end. Yes there will be guidelines to follow but they should be fairly flexible and pricing should be set so you will make sales.

I personally deal with it by doing something else. It doesn't matter whether it's another story, a game, tv or something else all together. Find what works for you. Those who say writer's block doesn't exist are extremely lucky. I'm not lucky, so I do what's best for me at the time.

LOL I too have that issue. In one story, I had this scene I couldn't write out because I couldn't get the words I wanted. Took me weeks before I was successful. During that time, I played games, wrote other stories and generally did other things before it came to me.

For me, just writing and learning new words. It's also a great excuse to live in a fantasy land, even though some real life events make it into my stories =smiles=

Just write and research publishers before taking that big leap. I only did half the homework in regards to finding the right publisher and it was a disaster.

Because I couldn't draw lol. Seriously, that and I have a vivid imagination that kept trying to come out via writing.

The idea for my most recent book actually stems from my second book, 'Changes in Degrees'. I had a dream and that dream wouldn't leave me alone so I wrote it down. That spawned my most recent book which, in turn, spawned the 'Unnaturals of Brisbane' series.
