Timothy M. Shannon Hi Laurie,
Nice to hear from you. I have written a few short stories about Syracuse and Tipperary Hill. My family is from there and are connected to the traffic light with the green light on top. But my Irish themed stories came about from my work on the Buffalo waterfront. I teach sailing at Seven Seas and one of the captains pointed to the lighthouse and said, "That's Kelly's Island where all the Irish were killed." I started researching early buffalo and came across one amazing and unknown tidbit after another. My sixth and seventh books concentrate on that period. 1800 -1867. I'll be interviewed at "The Filling Station" at Larkinvile on Wednesday, March 11 from 5:30 - 7:00. The only enticement I can offer is a little banjo music and a chance to hear me drone on. Wine is available at the bar and seems to help most get through my talks.

Timothy M. Shannon I teach sailing at the Seven Seas Sailing School in the Buffalo Harbor. I was returning from a sail with Captain Ed Quinlan when he pointed to the Buffalo Lighthouse and said, "That's Kelly's Island where all the Irish were killed."
When I asked him what he meant, he replied, "They were wiped out by a seiche, a freshwater tsunami."
He didn't know much more, so I decided to find out.
What resulted was the fascinating historical fiction novel, "Da's Shillelagh" and the sequel, "Da's Legacy."
