Sally Koslow I finish writing what I am sure is my best novel yet. My computer deletes it--the backups, too.
Sally Koslow Joan, my research on Sheilah/Lily's history was extensive but didn't include traveling to London. If you spend some time on google there are amazing videos of the East End that take you back in time. Thanks for reading and commenting. As soon as I found out about Sheilah's Jewish roots I knew I had to tell her amazing story.
Sally Koslow Hey, fan girl. Looks like i better start checking GoodReads. ARCs ready for Another Side of Paradise. Finally. xxx Sally
Sally Koslow Lillya,
Sorry it took me forever to respond. Wanted you to know I have a new book out May 29: Another Side of Paradise, a historical novel about the author F. Scott Fitzgerald and his lover, Sheilah Graham. Hope you'l check it out.
Thanks,
Sally
Sally Koslow 5 stars, for me, means a book with original, fluid language; absorbing plot; good pacing; originality and interesting characters, though they do not need to be likable or relatable. I always hope to learn something from a book, either from its content or its style, since I, too, am a writer. Good question.
Sally Koslow I began germinating with questions about how all those trusting wives who were Madoff'd were getting by, then I read--as you always do--how a perfectly healthy husband had a fatal heart attack during a marathon. I put these two together and THE WIDOW WALTZ began to take shape.
Sally Koslow I read, read, read.
Sally Koslow I'm just past 100 pages in on a new family-centric novel.
Sally Koslow Find a congenial writing workshop with an encouraging, talented teacher. Everyone needs deadlines, first of all, and you will also find that you learn from the process of reviewing other people's work. Comments on your own work may prove to be valuable. Keep in mind that workshop attendees can often be excellent readers, even if they are neophyte writers.
Sally Koslow The feeling of accomplishment you get after you've written. I find first drafts slow and hard, but after that, it's fun.
Sally Koslow Two activities help me crash through writer's block. 1) I go running. I'm no speed demon, but nonetheless my plodding jog helps loosen up my brain and get ideas flowing and I also 2) read something wonderful. Invariably, it inspires me, even if all I get out of the book, essay or article is one great word. Some times that's all you need to get going again.
